Restaurant and Meal Review: Shwarma House (Bashundhara Branch)

Image
Pardon me if the I misspelled Shwarma . I have seen plenty of restaurants adopting the name Shawarma instead of Shwarma . I am not sure which one is correct, but the way we pronounce it, Shwarma should be the right spelling. Anyway. Let's move onto the review. This was my first visit to Shwarma House , and the occasion was Friendship Day celebration with my friends. Having heard a lot of good things about this restaurant, I had my hopes pretty high, only to be shattered by their poor service. Here are shots of the food that we ate:

Restaurant AND Meal Review: eat@ at Jamuna Future Park

Image
eat@ (by BRAC Chicken) launched a few days ago ( click here to visit their Facebook page ). I would probably have no clue about this restaurant whatsoever if I had not visited Aarong the other day. While checking out after shopping, they handed me a flyer that said '20% off on meals', and I thought, well, why not? Hence the visit. Although this is a comparatively new restaurant and I believed that I should not keep my hopes high, the fact that they are serving chicken made me change my mind. KFC, BFC and CP have pretty much made our expectation really high with their supreme quality of food and service, and I expected the same from this one. Here's a sneak peek of my lunch there:

Food Review: Boomers' Three-item Platter

Image
The first time I had visited Boomers, I had hated the place and their food, probably because I was having my lunch for the second time in two hours. This time, however, I loved every bit of the food (except for a tiny part of it), and have really nice things to say about it. Read on. Here is a snapshot of Boomers' famous three-item platter:

Mini Food Review: 'Spicy Beef' Pizza of Pizza Hut

Image
Pizza Hut Spicy Beef Price: BDT.1100 (Pan)  [I will post detailed pricing soon, watch this space or visit their website/FB page for official menu with price list] This is one of the pizzas listed under Pizza Hut's 'spicy' list, however, I did not find the pizza that much spicy. Indeed, I found a good amount of chopped red and green  jalapeños , but that's it. If you are used to mouth-scalding spices, then you will be a little disappointed with this one.

Restaurant Review: RFC at Khilgaon

Image
Before I tell you where this 'RFC' is located exactly, please let me say a quick prayer because I am not exactly sure if this restaurant was actually called RFC or not. There are so many '-FCs' popping up in the streets of Dhaka nowadays that it has become harder to commit most of them into my brain, even after I have visited one for lunch! Here is a glimpse of what I was blessed with:

Review: Impossible 5 (Telefilm)

Image
Eid comes with lots of shopping, yummy foods and lots and lots of TV shows and telefilms. I usually remain busy with my cousins all day long, and barely have time to watch those. Plus recently a lot of new TV channels are popping in the scenario, so you actually lose count of all the TV serials that they air on fifty or so different channels. I remember that on one Eid I had actually made a list (a schedule, to be more appropriate) of all the shows that I wanted to watch, and had ended up watching none. The sponsor list of these TV shows is so long that there are actually more commercials than the length of the actual show, which is irritating at times (read 'always'). The schedule shows that the show will start at eight-thirty, which actually means that their will be about a hundred commercials, starting at eight-thirty, and the show will start whenever the last commercial of that particular session has been aired! I had lost my appetite in these shows before Airtel decid...

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince: Book vs. Movie

Image
I had first read Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in 2005, but have re-read them several times, including my recent read this week. I had the movie saved in my computer and I decided to watch it right an hour after I had finished reading the book, and I am not surprised to say this, I was very, very upset with the motion picture.   I know this is an old topic, with people almost always stating that how bad the movie adaption of all the well-written books tend to be. But trust me, after realizing the whole thing with my own senses, and seeing the huge differences through my own eyes(although I have watched the movie only once or twice and read the book many times, I never judged them like I did this time), I ended up reaching the conclusion that it would be a complete injustice to my blog if I didn't write a post on this topic even once, for this series was the only one that had enlightened my entire childhood very much. So here I am, writing this post when I should ac...

Movie Review: The Last Three Animation Movies that I Watched

Image
Hotel Transylvania Release Date: September, 2012 Duration: About 90 minutes IMDb Rating: 7.1/10 (as of January 19, 2013) Okay I want to keep this one as short and simple as possible. Like I said before, everything that has a touch of something paranormal (not in the scary way though) to it manages to steal my heart. This movie was not an exception. I loved the idea of monsters being scared of humans and the characters were quite likeable, too. The only thing I did not like about the plot is how it ended: humans not freaking out to find real monsters among that? Not likely! The animation was flawless, the soundtracks rocked, and this movie couldn't have been much better! So my rating is: Eagerly waiting for the sequel to come out! Brave Release Date: June, 2012 Duration: About 93 minutes IMDb Rating: 7.2/10 (as of January 19, 2013) A Disney movie with an awesome princess-common! A Disney movie with an awesome princess but not any awesome prince or...

Book Review: The Iron Daughter

Image
The Iron King (The Iron Fey #1) by Julie Kagawa Description of the book on Goodreads : Meghan Chase has a secret destiny; one she could never have imagined. Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan's life, ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in at school or at home. When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar, and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of her, Meghan senses that everything she's known is about to change. But she could never have guessed the truth - that she is the daughter of a mythical faery king and is a pawn in a deadly war. Now Meghan will learn just how far she'll go to save someone she cares about, to stop a mysterious evil no faery creature dare face; and to find love with a young prince who might rather see her dead than let her touch his icy heart. My rating: The Iron Daughter (The Iron Fey #2) by Julie Kagawa Description if the ...
