Recipe: Creamy Garlic Pasta

Image
Homemade pasta is a delight, and when it comes to creamy pasta, I can never resist the urge. After spending plenty of money at restaurants, I finally decided to give this one a try at home. Although most of my cooking experiments fail first, this one turned to be quite successful; so, sharing my experience with you all here. Here is what it looks like.

Recipe: Semolina Nuggets

Image
This recipe is positioned at the top of my 'All-time Favourite Snacks' list. Easy to prepare and yummy as hell-this recipe was taught to me by my mother and it was always known to me as a family recipe. However, I believed that the recipe was quite common, but after looking for it in the internet I couldn't find it posted anywhere; although I'm sure almost all the households of Bangladesh has tried these nuggets for at least once in their life. Below is the recipe: Ingredients: 1. Semolina--1 cup 2. Onion--1, medium sized 3. Egg--1 big or 2 small 4. Vegetables--finely chopped; optional 5. Green Chillies--3-4, chopped 6. Salt--a pinch, or to taste 7. Oil--enough to deep fry the nuggets Adjustments: The amount stated above is most likely to yield about 7-8 nuggets, or more if you make them small. If you want to increase the serving, add another (or more) egg(s) and semolina, and increase the amount of onions and vegetables. Don't forget to adjust the ...

My First Homemade Beef Kebab!

Image
Having celebrated Eid-ul-Azha recently, the refrigerator is full of beef. Beef and beef! This time mom and I thought that we would give our taste buds a little rest from the usual beef curry that has been being cooked for all our lives. So we went to the store and bought this cool grill (it looks nothing like your ordinary grill, trust me). Yesterday, we gave it a try and the kebabs came out successful! The best part of it was that all of us (except for my boring brother who was sleeping all the time!) had a great family time! So here's a small account of how we all enjoyed the day!  At first, dad loaded the bottom of the grill with lots of black coal. Meanwhile, mom was preparing the meat. Large chunks of beef was cut into the shapes of long ribbons, and was kept soaked into vinegar for about 60-70 minutes. Wonder what I had been doing? Running to and fro with the camera in my hands! Okay so after that mom started preparing the spices, and dad and I concentrated on ligh...

Latest Addition to My Cooking

Image
A few days ago, I entered the kitchen after a long time. The good news is, I have moved on to actual curry from all the light snacks I've been preparing so far. Here are some shots of the dishes I have prepared recently: Egg Curry : I don't know if it should be called egg curry at all. We call it 'Dim Bhuna' in our local language. This is quite easy to make but it requires a lot of oil and so will provide you with a lot of calories. But it tastes really good. Fish Curry : This one was easier than chicken! But this one too, comes with a lot of oil. Here's a photo that I shot: I added some fresh tomatoes and green chillies to add some extra flavors to the dish. You can add other vegetables if you wish. Pardon my poor serving, I'm never good at decorating dishes. I'm actually a bit confused about the spices that I've used to make the dishes, or else I would definitely upload the recipe here. I'm gonna search the internet, take pr...

My First Pizza: A Big Sucess Through Many Small Disasters!

Image
Pizza-something I was planning to prepare for like forever. But I'd never thought I would just jump into it without any preparation. A couple of days ago I went to the nearest store, picked up yeast and green bell peppers and got started. Well, there are more than a thousand articles in the internet on pizza recipes, so I'm not going to give you another long, boring description of my one. Rather I'm going to tell you the story behind making this pizza. I just woke up one day and decided, "Yes. I'll make the pizza tomorrow". I went to a nearby store, where they had dry yeast bottled up. I picked up one, but there was a girl there (sales promoter should be the right word I guess) who told us (my mom was with me) that there was a better pack of yeast and handed us a packet with Chinese letters all over it. Although we had never used it before, we thought of giving it a try. We always buy things from there and the things are always good. So I didn't b...

My First Step Towards The Kitchen :D

Image
I'm not much of a cooker, when it comes to cooking, most of the time I'm like "feeling sick..." and "not enough energy...". But I started to take it pretty seriously a couple of weeks ago. So I downloaded some recipes and gave it a try. Though not very successful, my foods were edible indeed :D Potatoes This is called 'Aloo Chop' in our local language. First, I boiled some potatoes and mashed them. Then I mixed some spices with it and fried them in oil. Ready to serve :D Bread with Egg Coating This is nothing special, I learned it from my mother who once was trying to make eggs look good so that we would eat it :D I first took breads and cut them according to the shape I preferred (e.g. squares, triangles etc). Then I took eggs, added chopped onions and green chillies, sprinkled some salt, mixed them well and then dipped the breads in the mixture and on fried them (in a little oil) until the egg was cooked well. Instant Soup ...
